Συνεργασία The Weeknd με Aaliyah

Στις 25 Αυγούστου του 2021 συμπληρώθηκαν 20 χρόνια από τον τραγικό χαμό της R’n’B’ τραγουδίστριας Aaliyah .

Να θυμίσουμε πως η Aaliyah σκοτώθηκε σε ηλικία 22 ετών στις 25 Αυγούστου 2001 όταν συνετρίβη το αεροσκάφος στο οποίο επέβαινε λίγο μετά την απογείωση του από τις Μπαχάμες.

Ο θείος της Aaliyah και ιδρυτής της δισκογραφικής εταιρείας Blackground Records, Barry Hankerson, σε συνέντευξή του στο Billboard επιβεβαίωσε ότι ο κατάλογος της αδικοχαμένης τραγουδίστριας θα ανέβει για πρώτη φορά στις υπηρεσίες streaming, είκοσι χρόνια μετά το θάνατό της.

Στις 20 Αυγούστου η EMPIRE κυκλοφόρησε ψηφιακά το δεύτερό της άλμπουμ «One in a Million» ενώ τον Οκτώβριο κυκλοφόρησαν στις ψηφιακές πλατφόρμες οι συλλογές «I Care 4 U» και «Ultimate Aaliyah»

Ο Barry Hankerson αποκάλυψε στο «Billboard» ότι η καθυστέρηση της δημοσίευσης της μουσικής της Aaliyah στις υπηρεσίες streaming οφείλεται εν μέρει στις κακές σχέσεις του με την αδερφή του και μητέρα της τραγουδίστριας, Diane.

Επιπλέον ο Bobby Hankerson αποκάλυψε τα σχέδια του για ένα μεταθανάτιο άλμπουμ της Aaliyah (πιθανός τίτλος Unstoppable) με νέα τραγούδια με τη συμμετοχή καλλιτεχνών όπως οι Drake, Future, Ne-Yo, Chris Brown και Snoop Dogg, με τον Timbaland να έχει κάνει ήδη ένα remix και να έχει κάνει την παραγωγή μέρους της μουσικής.

Ανάμεσα στους καλλιτέχνες είναι και ο διάσημος The Weeknd και το τραγούδι που θα κυκλοφορήσει την Παρασκευή 17 Δεκεμβρίου θα έχει τον τίτλο «Poison»

Μάλιστα ο γνωστός καλλιτέχνης το 2011 στο τραγούδι του “What You Need” είχε samples από το δημοφιλές τραγούδι της Aaliyah “Rock the Boat”.
